Wilderness Training Experiences

This thread is to capture everyone's experiences while "learning" about wilderness survival. This could be something as simple as a lesson learned from a time you were stuck somewhere in a storm (rain, ice, snow, etc.), to a time when you were on an exciting expedition. You may have not even learned anything, but share regardless. Do you find this valuable?
